The all-rounder

Michele Sofisti, was born in Bormio in the Valtellina valley ; he studied the classics at school in Parma and graduated in geology.

He is both a manager - at home on both sides of the Atlantic – and an inveterate, multilingual traveler, with an insatiable passion for photography.

The approach to art

Michele Sofisti began taking photos twenty years ago during his travels for work and pleasure.

Initially he concentrated on landscape photography and images of people, diversifying to a much wider range of subject matter: details, colors, shapes have now come to the fore, marked by a sophisticated search for imaginative, new viewpoints. In this way, even distorted perspectives reveal unexpected geometrical patterns.

The technique

Printed on canvas, metal and on other unusual materials, with shaded and vanished areas which are then blown up, his photos are no longer faithful reproductions of reality, but become vivid pictorial images: an interplay of produced art and reproduced art. An impressionist outlook on life and an extraordinary display of nature.
